'Resource owners, must always be at the heart of service delivery'

Newly-appointed Permanent Secretary for Fisheries and Forestry, Atelaite Rokosuka was accorded a welcome ceremony by Ministry staff on Friday, June 23, 2023.
Mrs Rokosuka reminded staff to remember their calling within the ministry and to always remain true to it.
“We have a bigger responsibility entrusted on us as stewards of fisheries and forestry resources and to ensure we manage, protect, and sustain it for our current and future generation."
She further added, "I have been chosen as the captain of the ship, and I need my crew in order for the ship to sail smoothly. Let us continue to steer this ship forward through hard work, better coordination, passion, and honesty.”
Mrs Rokosuka has spent over 28 years as a career civil servant and serving in a few ministries before joining the Ministry of Fisheries as Deputy Secretary in 2019.
She acted on the role of Permanent Secretary in February this year before being confirmed to the position this month.
Mrs Rokosuka, in concluding her remarks to staff, says that stakeholders, including resource owners, must always be at the heart of service delivery.
“More will be done to improve service delivery to the people of Fiji, and when this happens, staff must positively embrace these changes.”
