
Minister Ravu Visits Fiji Pine Group Office in Lautoka
Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, Hon. Kalaveti Ravu, paid
his first official visit to the Fiji Pine Group Office in Drasa, Lautoka, today.
He met with the chief executive officer for the Fiji Pine Group,
Vimlesh Kumar, Fiji Pine Board of Trustees, members of the Fiji Pine Group
Board, as well as management and staff of the Pine Group.
Mr Kumar presented on the work carried out by Fiji Pine
throughout the years until today and said that they have always been grateful
for the support rendered by the Government.
"We are grateful to the Ministry of Forestry for all the
support rendered to the Fiji Pine Group, and it can only strengthen and soar to
greater heights," said Mr Kumar.
The official entourage then visited the facility to see the
operations carried out on a daily basis.
Minister Ravu also officiated at the opening of three major
projects, namely:
1) Fiji Pine Limited Research Facility valued at $238,120.74;
2) Horizontal Feed Chipper valued at $2,0,93.66;
3) Mahild High and Low Temp Kilns valued at $2,186,859,94;
In his remarks, Minister Ravu said he was truly fascinated with
the operations carried out by the company and congratulated the team for their
efforts so far.
"I must applaud the Fiji Pine Group for their tremendous
efforts in growing the industry into what it is today. Let us continue to work
together to promote sustainable forestry and provide alternatives to
landowners. We must continue to value our landowners and assist them in all the
ways possible," said Minister Ravu.
