'Resource owners, must always be at the heart of service delivery'
Newly-appointed Permanent Secretary for Fisheries and
Forestry, Atelaite Rokosuka was accorded a welcome ceremony by Ministry staff
on Friday, June 23, 2023.
Mrs Rokosuka reminded staff to remember their calling within the ministry and
to always remain true to it.
“We have a bigger responsibility entrusted on us as stewards of fisheries and
forestry resources and to ensure we manage, protect, and sustain it for our
current and future generation."
She further added, "I have been chosen as the captain of the ship, and I
need my crew in order for the ship to sail smoothly. Let us continue to steer
this ship forward through hard work, better coordination, passion, and
honesty.”
Mrs Rokosuka has spent over 28 years as a career civil servant and serving in a
few ministries before joining the Ministry of Fisheries as Deputy Secretary in
2019.
She acted on the role of Permanent Secretary in February this year before being
confirmed to the position this month.
Mrs Rokosuka, in concluding her remarks to staff, says that stakeholders,
including resource owners, must always be at the heart of service delivery.
“More will be done to improve service delivery to the people of Fiji, and when
this happens, staff must positively embrace these changes.”
