Ministers Rally for the Prosperity of Natural Resource Owners
The Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, Honourable Kalaveti Ravu and the Minister for ITaukei Affairs, Honourable Ifereimi Vasu have encouraged collaborative efforts between their ministries to help generate prosperity for natural resource owners during a Talanoa Session that was held at the Forestry Training Centre in Colo-i-Suva last Friday.
“It is our job as civil servants to help them realise it, utilise it to its full potential and ultimately reap the maximum benefits,” Hon. Vasu said.
He added that the Ministry of ITaukei Affairs was looking to its resource-based sectors to be the backbone that will help alleviate poverty.
Meanwhile, Hon. Ravu agreed that collaboration and interagency approach is the way forward.
“We must take away all the red tapes that hinder our people from progressing. We must provide alternatives. The Ministry of Fisheries and Forestry play an integral part in the lives of ITaukei. Therefore, we have a responsibility to deliver and advise the people accordingly,” Hon. Ravu said.
Both ministers are adamant that their cooperation in ministries as such is the silver lining that could generate the much-needed economic boost for the Fijian economy.
