Naqera Villagers Receive Tap Water for the First Time
Villagers of Naqera Settlement of Vaturova District in Cakaudrove Province now have access to tap water following the official opening of their water project by the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, Honourable Kalaveti Ravu yesterday.
Village elder Nai Nayalo said the assistance has been a huge relief for the villagers.
The 75 year old who single-handedly raised her five children in the village said she was glad for their children and future generation.
“We had it hard and it brings me much joy that our children will have it much easier than we did, having tap water right in their own homes,” Miss Nayalo said.
During his Talanoa Session with the villagers, Hon. Ravu said the Ministry of Fisheries and Forestry is working to ensure that the Ministry delivers its promises.
“The reason why we are here today to see that whatever assistance has been promised is delivered and implemented effectively on the ground,” Hon. Ravu said.
He added that the Ministry is working very closely with the Ministry of ITaukei Affairs and they stand ready to take the lead role in assisting people in rural areas in the proper utilisation of the abundance of natural resources in their surrounding seas and forests.
The Hon. Minister's three-day tour of Vanua Levu ends today.
