Minister Commissions New Head Teacher’s Quarters in Vaturova

The Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, Honourable Kalaveti Ravu commissioned the new head teacher’s quarters of Domonisavu District School in the Tikina o Vaturova of Cakaudrove Province last week Thursday.
Ministry of Forestry, Fiji Director Forestry Operations North, Mr. Maleli Nakasava attributed the success of the project to the close collaboration between the government through the Ministry, the Vanua and the Lotu (church).
“Nayarabale Village have committed 500 hectares from their land for tree planting. The village raised seedlings that we purchased for the planting. The money they received was invested into the procuring of materials for the construction of the school quarters,”
“So, it’s not a hundred percent government assistance but a collaboration between the Vanua, Lotu and the Government,” Mr. Nakasava said.
School Manager, Mr. Isoa Turaganilewa said the construction of the quarters was something they have been wanting for a long time.
“We are thankful to the Ministry of Forestry for assisting us. It is a relief for us to know that those of us living in very rural places are not forgotten when it comes to development assistance,” Mr. Turaganilewa said.
He further elaborated that it was important for schools to ensure the welfare of its teachers.
“We understand that while we expect teachers to teach our children, we should also ensure that they are being accommodated properly wherever they are being posted to especially in rural areas,” Mr. Turaganilewa said.
